The effort it takes to grow out of painful patterns often feels more uncomfortable than remaining in them. Personal growth can be painful because it can make us feel ashamed and humiliated to face our own darkness.”
— Marianne Williamson, A Return to Love

Do you know what does it mean to lose connection with yourself? Many of us do it unconsciously. It occurs when we stop paying attention to what is happening on the inside.

Sacred is the relationship you have with yourself. It is your inner connection to your life, your pure potential, your Buddha nature and inner wisdom. Yet, over time, when bad things happen, we can turn on ourselves, abandoning this inner connection to feelings of inferiority, guilt, and shame. If this happens we become stuck, cutting off any room for growth. We find, instead, our thoughts have turned destructive, neglectful, and even violent. From such a negative mindset, we create a place of darkness within us - a place from which we live.

To feel okay or make things right we take actions that move us away from our center. We can build walls around our emotions and our feelings to the point that we don't feel them or recognize our true nature.

Replaced by self-loathing and doubt, many of us go through our lives unaware of this missing intimate relationship. We are on autopilot. Our minds are programmed based on the negative and painful experiences of our lives. We act and behave in ways we don't understand. We fight the feelings, fears, and troubles that come up as if they are coming from some unwanted place. Our lives may move in a direction that we may or may not want to go because we are not paying attention. We are allowing our default mind to control our world; rather than applying our now hidden, inner wisdom to create it.

The good news is this disconnect need not be permanent. You have a choice, every day, on how you want to go through life. You have a choice right now. When you are ready to discover the beauty within, the parts of you that you no longer know or what might be holding you back from peace and happiness the path is directly in front of you. Your journey is waiting. All you have to do is to be open to it.
