WM Author Update No. 4: Seeing the Finish Line #writing #amwriting

Hello. Thank you so much for your interest in Waking Monologues. I hope it is helpful to you on your journey. I am using this blog post position to keep interested readers up-to-date on the progress of this site, the book and other events that come along. If you have any questions for me you can send them through the form on the Meet Holly page. I will try and answer them here.

Dear Readers,

I am close enough, at least to the first solid draft of my book, to estimate completion. I have eight chapters remaining to write including two monologues. Perhaps I haven't mentioned this before but the journey monologues on this site are the ones intended to go in the book. They occur every third chapter as a way to highlight what I have learned on my journey. Also, they serve as a guide to what is coming next in the book.

And, I have finally done a proper word count. To date, I have 43,218 words with a targeted goal of at least 60,000. With the December and January deadlines coming up, clearly I have less time to write the later chapters than I took in the earlier ones. I have, however, bunkered down, as intended. So I am hopeful that all I have learned about writing, along this path, will allow these later chapters to be just as intriguing as their predecessors.

Moreover, I truly aspire to skillfully show my journey back to my inner wisdom, strength and Buddha nature. It is my intention to really convince readers that their journey, if interested, is always available and right in front of them. After all, that is the whole goal of writing the book - to help and inspire others.

On the website front, I am happy to introduce a new category of blog posts - Waking Essence. I developed this category as a way to post notes and lessons I learn from others. I practice Buddhism, for example, and want to be able to write about the Dharma while crediting those I learn it from. This forum allows me to do that.

On the challenging side, when I get closer to finishing my book, I look for guidance on publishing it. I plan only to publish when I get a large book deal. There is too much personal information given to publish it small. In other words, I will only publish it when I can reach out and help lots of people. It is not a book I would want to self-publish, for example, for only my close friends and family to read - to intimate for that.

Finally, I continue to learn from building my social platform as it continues to challenge me. I am confident that, given the right amount of time and effort, it will grow to where I need it to be.

In closing want to say that I am learning so much from this part of my journey. I have asked for the time to write this book and am grateful that I have it. I am completing what I set out to do. I trust that if this book is meant to be published, I will find the way. In the meantime, it has all be so worth it.

Thanks, especially to my followers and supporters, for believing in me along my quest to write and publish.

Very kindly yours,

Holly McNeill
